Linux Server Software for Email Forwarding?
I have a Linux Server Hosting a website registered to my domain. I’d also like it to Host a mail server.
I need that mail server to forward any emails the accounts receive (not resend it, I need the sender header to remain the same) to another email on a different host (like a gmail user).
Any thoughts?
Thanks JoelKatz. The headers thing isn’t really THAT necessary, it would just be a good benefit.
So what if I didn’t have to keep the headers, what would you guys suggest?
It’s impossible. The mail servers receiving those emails would have no way to know that you had resent them, rather than forged them. Email security schemes like SPF would cause them to reject those emails and cause you no end of headaches.
SRS is one possible solution. But I’d urge you to rethink what it is you are trying to do.
